From its beautiful lakes, lush forests and stunning coastline, to its wealth of endangered species, Cortes Island is a very special place. We are working to conserve it for the future and make sure it stays this way for years to come.

Leave a gift in your will
If you love Cortes, its natural beauty and wildlife, please consider leaving a charitable bequest in your will to help us conserve it for the future. Bequests of any size can make a real difference and will be appreciated for generations to come.
Bequests can take a number of forms, including a lump sum of money, a portion of your estate, or the residue (the assets left after your heirs have been provided for and expenses paid) to be left to the Friends of Cortes Island Society. Donation receipts are issued to the estate for the value of the gift, which can substantially reduce taxes paid by your estate.
Leave a gift of Life Insurance.
Naming Friends of Cortes Island Society as the beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy is another way of donating to us. Upon death, the insurance company will pay the death proceeds directly to our charity. Friends of Cortes Island will issue a tax receipt to the donor’s estate for the policy proceeds.
We encourage you to speak to a financial advisor such as a financial planner, solicitor, accountant or insurance agent for help with arrangements for any gift.
Thank you for your generosity
