Watershed Sentinel Magazine
Originally started as a community newsletter on Cortes Island, the Watershed Sentinel is western Canada’s award-winning environmental news magazine, independently publishing environmental journalism since 1990. In a world where our news is increasingly controlled, the Watershed Sentinel remains the voice of the grassroots – the folks who are working on the environmental issues that face us today. FOCI regularly produces and sponsors feature articles for the Sentinel, as part of our educational programming.
Friends of Cortes Island Society (FOCI) is a charitable organization that has been active for over 25 years. Our organization exists to monitor and preserve the health of local ecosystems, and to provide educational programs that foster a greater understanding of the natural environment. Through all of our projects, we work to promote environmental integrity through community responsibility.
