Event Details

Cortes Island Museum and Friends of Cortes Island invites you to join marine biologist Deb Cowper and Max Thaysen from Friends of Cortes Island for a low tide exploration of Manson’s Lagoon.

Come search for marine life, learn about shellfish as a food source, hear about the threats to Manson’s spit and the marine environment in general.

Where to meet:  Meet in Mansons Landing Provincial Park parking lot.  Please be prompt as this activity is dependent on the tide.

What to wear:  This activity will include walking on wet and uneven ground with sharp shells and requires suitable footwear such as gumboots (best option) or water shoes. NO BARE FEET!

What to bring:  You may want to bring a walking stick – oysters & gravel are uneven to walk on and water currents may be challenging. A hat, sunscreen and a drink are also advisable.

NO DOGS – please leave your dog at home.

Payment:  Donations of $10–$30 gratefully appreciated

Sunday, August 8, 2020, 10:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.

To register: Call the Museum at 250-935-6340 or email before Friday noon.

No gumboots, no worries, water shoes will do!
